(Saturday, February 23rd 2008) There have been quite a few changes around our familiar Columnchew Productions site! I've switched over completely to Online Order and am now only providing Digital Images to my customers (as opposed to physical prints of my pictures). Delay time (between when you place an order and receive the images) should drop exponentially, and I hope to be able to provide more pictures to my customers! I've also purchased the domain name http://www.ccshots.com to make it that much easier to remember my web address. (Saturday, October 14th) Well, I'm trying something new with the site and the way I do Web Galleries. They're gonna look slightly different, and the watermark on the pictures should look less pronounced. In short, I'm trying to follow the Black theme I created with the site. The last regular season Soccer game was Thursday, and there are two more weeks left with Football. As we move into the post-season, things are starting to look interesting. At least my schedule gets a bit freed up...(Sunday, September 24th) What a day... Saturday saw me hit 4 different games in 3 different cities. I started the day in Huron taking pictures of the Freshman Football game, and then got to hit about half of the JV Mohawk game. From there I ran home to eat and hit the Norwalk/Perkins Soccer match for the Sandusky Register. It was a good match with Norwalk winning by 1 goal in the last 15 minutes or so. From there, I went home to eat, change, and hop a ride over to Berea to take in a college soccer match: Baldwin Wallace vs. Defiance. Wow, what a difference college soccer is from high school soccer. It's much faster paced, but that's a good thing. I got a couple of great shots there and had some time to talk w/ Charlie Thompson at the post-game cookout. I'm sure I'll be taking in more of those college matches; the next one being BW vs. Capitol down in Columbus on October 6th. As it turned out, I took a total of around 957 pictures yesterday: That's 5.7 Gigabytes of pictures in a total of 7 hours (which would fill roughly 20% of a 30 Gig. iPod, or 7% of an 80 Gig iPod). When I got home last night (around midnight), I had two messages: one from the Sandusky Register, and one from someone who wanted me to take a family portrait for them... It never ends.(Tuesday, September 12th) What a close game tonight...Sandusky's goalkeeper (Freddy) is definitely good. The boys/girls of the Varsity Soccer team managed to pull out a 2-1 win with a pair of goals coming in the last 2 minutes of the match. Huron Scored with 18 minutes left in the 2nd half, Sandusky Scored with about 2 minutes left, and Huron managed to score with 1 minute left. With that, Huron stays undefeated in the SBC, and on top of the league. The JV team came out with a win, and I think they've only had 1 loss this year too! There are definitely some good things going on with Huron Soccer! (Sunday, September 10th) I'm shy of my two year anniversary, but I decided to go ahead and update the site early this year. I decided on a black finish to the site - it's a bit easier on the eyes (if you don't believe me, try staring at a white screen for 15 minutes and then look around the room), and it looks sharp. All the navigation is on the bottom of the screen, which might be a bit problematic, but I dig it. The biggest change is that I'm using a different architechture that will make it easier for me to perform updates. I updated the Updates, Pictures, and News page the most often, so look to those for timely information. (Sunday, August 27th) I updated some bits of the site today. I needed to raise the price on 20x30 prints, due to the fact that I was making less than a dollar on those (after tax and shipping). All the other prices remain the same, however. Due to changes in my personal life, I'm running more behind than usual and I've decided to handle pictures a bit differently this year. Instead of getting all the pictures at my house and then taking them to everyone, I've decided to have them mailed directly to my customers. This saves my hassle, but adds a slight bit to shipping. That's negligible, however, as it saves me a ton of time. I'm not real big on updating this individual page due to my lack of time, but I'll try as I get the time. Thanks! (Wednesday, April 4th) Spring season is upon me. Track is VERY difficult to shoot - I have to do it in 3 separate trips (one for track events, one for field events, one for throwers). I had to leave early from track today for a dinner, so I didn't get many pictures. I expect to hit another 3 more track meets this year... (Tuesday, December 20th) It's hard for me to keep updating this news thing, but I'm going to try. Sorry it's taken me so long to get the pictures up there, but I had a death in the family last week. The Holiday season is upon us, so I'm not going to be doing any pictures from the 22nd of December to January 3rd. I'll be in Vegas from December 26th to December 30th... (Monday, October 25th) Being Monday, and nothing much else going on, I decided to go to the Perkins/Ontario Soccer Playoff Match. It ended up being a great match with Dirk Dessecker scoring the lone goal in Golden Goal overtime. I was able to contact the Register afterward, so they published a couple of my pictures. I had to provide the player info, so if it's wrong in the paper it's MY FAULT (hey guys at www.perkinssoccer.org, how bout putting up a roster, huh?!). Anyways, I posted the pics so check them out! I was having some huge flash problems last night in the rain, so if some pictures are too bright or too dark, my bad... (Saturday, October 22nd) I haven't really had time to update the news page as I'm doing pictures prettymuch every day. Today, I had 3 separate games to hit: Freshman Football, JV Football, and a Soccer Playoff match at home against Margaretta. The first two games went great - the light was actually great dispite all the rain, and I got some shots that make me happy. I'm trying to get much closer, tighter shots - which is one of the things that I've never really done. Once the soccer game came around, I think I had been pictured-out. I didn't take that many, they didn't come out as good as I would have hoped, and I was a bit more into the GAME than into the pictures. I feel bad about that, but hey, 3 sessions in a day is a long day. I do want to point out Dom Frank and Jeff Barcus who actually played both in this morning's football games AS WELL as the varsity soccer playoffs tonight. That's pretty frickin amazing, if I do say so myself... (Saturday, October 8th) It's been a week since I updated the news page - but it's also been a rough week. The soccer team lost to Port Clinton, and the football team lost to Clyde in a close overtime battle. I was approached at the beginning of the week by the Sandusky Register to take some photos of the Clyde/Huron Football game on Friday as they weren't going to be able to make it for some reason. Because of this, I was shooting both sides of the field picturewise. I had to make sure that I had a couple of good Clyde Pictures along with a couple of good Huron Pictures, but the only problem is that Clyde will run the ball right through the middle - they never once ran towards a sideline (let alone OUR sideline, where I was at). Getting those pictures proved to be a bit more difficult. I also had to get pictures of Clyde celebrating after we had just lost.....which was not a very good feeling. I guess that's what you have to do when you're getting pictures for the paper - get the shots of the team that wins. At any rate, I'm looking forward to next Tuesday when the Huron Tiger Soccer team plays Perkins AT Perkins in what will be the biggest soccer match of that night. If you're around, please come by Perkins High School and cheer on the Soccer Team. Well, there's nothing for me this weekend, so I'll be home cheering for my Buckeyes as they beat Chuck Thompson's Penn State team! (Saturday, September 24th) So, last night was the Homecoming Football game. I tried to get some......different pictures this time. Normally I tend to take pictures from the same angles, the same focal lengths, and the same lenses - I felt like trying some new things. Unfortunately, I didn't have my flash when we started the Homecoming stuff at the beginning of the game, so some of those pictures are noticibly darker. Eh, oh well, you live, you learn. The game turned out quite well as we ended up winning 28 to 14 (If I can remember...). Today (Saturday) is the actual homecoming dance at 8:00 in the Woodlands Gym. From what I hear, they started at 7am and have that place decked out. I'll be there taking pictures and doing my little slideshow thing that I always do, so if you're going you'll probably see me. For everyone else, check back here late tonight/early tomorrow and I'll have the pictures up. GO BUCKS! (Thursday, September 22nd) On to Soccer for a Thursday night match at Margaretta. There's no JV, so we had only a Varsity game tonight....which is probably a good thing considering our JV team is getting beat up. AJ Adams broke his ankle in practice yesterday, so the JV Team is down to an Ironman 11 team (i.e. they have no substitutes....they'll all play the ENTIRE 90 minutes). Anyways, the team beat Margaretta with a score of 5-1 today. I'm trying to cut back on my pictures....which is odd for me. I've been told that since there's SO many, people are having problems going through them and finding the ones they want. I'm trying to limit it to my good ones....you know, delete the crappy ones. I'm still averaging about 300 per match or so. Take a look at the Margaretta shots, and see you at the Football Game (AND Homecoming on Saturday)! (Wednesday, September 21st) What a week this is going to be. I've got something going every day, and today was the Homecoming Parade and Bonfire. I got a couple of pictures from that.....I don't know what else you could get from that event. There's some neat artistic pictures of Dickie in silhouette. I don't have much time to type tonight, so I'll just leave it at this. (Sunday, September 18th) What a weekend... It's coming up on my 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY of this whole shebang of a site - September 25th. I don't know what I'm going to do, but we'll see. It's also coming up on the 18th anniversary of Charlie Thompson, which just so happens to be tomorrow. Having said that, I did a wedding with my sister this past weekend. Ugh....weddings can be nightmares. I'm not saying it was a bad wedding, quite the contrary, I'm just saying they last all day. I actually THOROUGHLY ENJOYED this wedding - we did pictures BEFORE the wedding, which is an AMAZING idea as everyone was laid back and ready for the big moment. The reception went great and I got a bunch of great pictures. We're seriously contemplating opening this up for future weddings (not too many, I like my Saturdays). I ALSO got the Freshman Football game Saturday morning (yep, out in the monsoon rains), and just a LITTLE bit of the JV game. I really wish I could have stayed for the JV game, but I had to rush off to the wedding. This week we've got Soccer on Tuesday and Thursday, Volleyball Monday night, Football Friday night, and Homecoming Saturday Night....tell me that's not a full schedule. If you see me sometime during that time, stop by and say hi... (Friday, September 16th) Huron took on Margaretta at the Duck Pond in Castalia tonight for a return to SBC match play. It didn't take long to decide this game....in fact, it took about 15 seconds - the time it took Evan Deluca to grab the opening kickoff and return it to the opposite end zone. It was all downhill from there for the Polar Bears. I got some decent pictures, and some not so decent ones. It's hard to get pictures of the cheerleaders as I have to be behind them (as opposed to in front of them on the sidelines) to get them in the shot.....not so easy with my lens. The band is always difficult for away games as they're on first and they play to the home crowd. I always dump my pictures at the half, and it'd take to long for me to run to the opposite side of the field. Other than that, everything worked out fine tonight - check the pix... (Thursday, September 15th) Tonight was the big Perkins/Huron Soccer match. I can honestly say that I was looking forward to this match. It didn't disappoint. It was the best soccer match I've seen this year, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. That being said, the varsity team lost tonight with a score of 1-0. The Perkins Defense was on their game tonight. They definitely had the long ball and volley shots down pat. After tonight, I don't think there's any question as to Parker Muntz's ability in Goal. The kid had a ton of saves and kept this game as close as it ended up being. Our Defense had no chance to rest, but still managed to save off Perkins offense and hold them to a single goal. You know, you always hear people tell you "You win some, you lose some," and that they're always so proud of you even when things don't turn out your way. I used to never get that, and I hated hearing it when I lost. Tonight, though, I found myself smiling even when the game was over. For what has to be the first time, I finally understand what those people have told me. It was a great game, I did really enjoy every minute of it, and I am REALLY proud of the entire team for the efforts they made tonight. They're tremendous athletes and I honestly can't wait for the next game. I do also want to applaud Perkins, they put up a fierce fight and I look forward to the next Huron/Perkins soccer game! Having said that, it's a late night, I've got tons of pictures to upload, and I don't know if I'll finish them tonight. I'll probably end up uploading the pictures in the morning. Look for them then... (Martes, 13 de Septiembre) Hoy, tuvimos un juego de Fútbol contra los Blue Streaks de Sandusky. Fue un buen juego, y ganamos 4 a 2. Okay, enough of my busted Español - we had a great game of Soccer today as the Varsity team ended up winning 4-2 against Sandusky. Your typical back and forth action with 2 penalty kicks and a couple goals (HEY ERIN, BB SCORED IN A VARSITY GAME!!!). Another cool thing - I got a call today at work from some guy at Damon's (the rib place at Battery Park) - turns out they want to put some local sports pictures up in their restaurant, and they'd like some. I'm gonna print some off tonight and give them to him on Thursday morning. Consequently, if you're in Damon's, look for my pictures. Incidentally, my grandma's taking us out for the yearly brunch at Damon's this Sunday, so I'll have to look for my pics. IF YOU'RE IN THE AREA THURSDAY, COME DOWN TO MCCORMICK TO CHECK OUT THE SOCCER GAME!!!! This one's gonna be big for the varsity team, and I'd love to see a large turnout. Come and check it out! (Saturday, September 10th) This could prove to be a great weekend. The Tigers came up with a 28-3 (if I remember) win on Friday over Avon and Varsity Soccer pulled out a 1-0 shutout on Saturday over Ontario (concluding an ENTIRE WEEK of shutout victories). ANYWAYS, I joined the Varsity and JV Soccer teams today in Ontario for a rare set of Saturday games. As I mentioned before, the Varsity came out with a 1-0 win in what proved to be a great game (dispite the heat). The Sun was directly overhead during the game, so the pictures aren't as well-lit as I would like (I even busted out a flash for some fill lighting), but they're still pretty good. I let a couple of kids take pictures during the JV game, but not many of them made it onto the site (sorry). Next week will be HUGE for the Soccer team as they take on their SBC Rivals - Perkins. Come out Thursday night and support the team in one of their biggest games this year - JV starts at 5, Varsity at 7. (Thursday, September 8th) It's Thursday, which means there was another Soccer game tonight. I got to ride the bus to Clyde....and get lost. How do you get lost on a schoolbus? We honestly stopped at some rundown Muffler shop and ASKED FOR DIRECTIONS...no, seriously. I'm not kidding. The muffler shop had the old rainbow-colored pointy triangle things on a white line that most used car dealers have strung all over the place. On the way out, the bus got snagged on one and ripped it down. Off to a great start, huh? ANYWAYS, we made it to the game and played about 3/4 of the way through the Varsity game before Lightning stopped the match. We ended up winning 6-0 with goals from a bunch of people. Clyde was great, though - their kids were great, the coaches were terrific, and the parents totally made Sloppy Joes, Hot Dogs and Corn on the Cob. The rain stopped, and the JV team hit the field. The JV ended up winning 4-0 with a PK by AJ Adams, goals by Sarah O, BB, and Maylor. That's right, Erin, Sarah scored....AND BB. I'm sure somewhere in Brazil somebody's pretty excited by that fact. Okay, I've got Football tomorrow and Soccer on Saturday, so here's to some sleep... (Tuesday, September 6th) So, I'm just gonna lay the score out there so Erin Mischler doesn't whine and moan again - the Soccer team settled a score from last year with a 4-0 shutout at Tiger Woods tonight. Goals by Andy, Charlie, and Geoff (shoot, I hope I didn't forget anyone else - I think Charlie scored twice) led Huron to a win and a shutout over Edison. It was a GREAT game, I personally think we played our very best tonight - everything was very cohesive. The game wasn't without incident, however, as there's always one Jackass on the Edison team who always seems to throw a fit when he's losing. In the end, it was probably one of the better games I've seen this year. (Friday, September 2nd) It's been awhile since I actually updated this news page. I just want to say hi to Erin Mischler over there in Brasilia Brazil - what's up? I heard through the mill that you said something along the lines of "looking at my pictures is like watching a movie but not knowing the ending.....since I don't put the scores up there, and my pictures don't really show the scoreboard for you. So, in that line of thought, I've started getting the scoreboard in the shot. Just for you, Erin, the Soccer team TIED Port Clinton w/ a score of 3 to 3 in the last 3 minutes of the game....it was QUITE a good game! We scored twice off the bat, and they answered back. There was no score until 3 minutes left in the SECOND half...and they answered right back. Also, for Erin, the Football team won with a score that was something like 31 to 7. It wasn't the close game that Port Clinton turned out to be, but it was still a good game. It's 12:30 AM, and I'm ready for bed, so I'll leave you with that... (Friday, August 26th) So, Huron opened their season tonight against Vermillion, rekindling a feud that ended a year after my dad graduated high school (that 1967, for all you guys out there). Huron easilly dominated this game in what proved to be quite the first quarter. I almost left at the half - I had a friend sitting at home that I probably should have visited, but I stayed for the second half instead. Check out the pictures... (Wednesday, August 17th) On with the scrimmages: Today/Tonight, the Soccer team ventured to Clearfork for their first scrimmage of the year. Going it without the Freshman (who were at orientation), the team won by a score of something like 6 or 7 to 3...I can't really remember. That field is crap for pictures, as half the field was in complete shade, and the other half was complete sunlight....so, because of this, the pictures are REALLY dark...which sucks. I did, however, have a great time travelling with the soccer team - it's gonna be quite a fun year. Congrats to Player of the Game, Parker Muntz and the rest of the Defense - they really stepped up. Tomorrow's a home Soccer Scrimmage, so come on down and watch these guys work! JV's at 5 and Varsity hits the field at 7 - be there! (Tuesday, August 16th) Today was the Clearwater scrimmage with the Varsity and JV Football team. I've honestly never been to a scrimmage where they ran a couple of series each, so it was new to me. That being said, it was a good way for me to ease back into Football. Not a whole lot of interesting pictures due to the whole starting/stopping aspect of the game, but I managed to get a couple of which I'm very pleased. Tomorrow and Thursday I have Soccer Scrimmages which are actually full games, so I'm excited to be back into "The Season." Just a quick posting and I'm off to bed... (Monday, August 15th) I updated the pictures page with the pictures from the Golf Outing and the Lift-a-thon. I took some of these pictures, but some of them were also taken by Anthony Camella, Luke Livchak, or some other random person (which would explain some of the pictures). I also created an Updates page for people that want to know what's been most recently updated with the site. Alright, I think that's it... (Sunday, August 14th) Alumni Weekend has come and gone, and it turned out to be a pretty darned good one, dispite the threatening weather. The Golf Outing on Saturday come off without any major hitches, and even the rain held off for us. The Lift-a-Thon had a good turnout this morning, and the Alumni Game came at the price of a DEVISTATING LOSS to the High School Team :) Okay, so it wasn't so devistating, but the Alumni got their revenge. Preceding the Alumni Game, Bryan Ware was awarded the City of Huron Man of the Year award!! This is quite the honor, and it was definitely bestowed on someone fitting of the prize - the entire team even showed up to cheer on their assistant coach. I've got pictures from every event, but I'm still processing them as I type. I've got just around 5 Gigabytes worth of pictures - let me put this into perspective. A DVD holds around 4.7 gigabytes worth of pictures - this is a DVD that could hold a full-length, hi-qualtity feature film plus extras. Instead, I could fill it (and then some) with pictures....that's alot. There's around 600 just from the alumni game, and I hope you wade through all of them. I've watched the vast majority of them as they're brought up on my screen, and I'm very pleased with the results. I won't, however, have them up tonight - they're going to have to wait until tomorrow. I'll try to have them posted when I get up around 6am. Thanks for visiting, and keep comin back! (Sunday, August 7th) The Fall season has officially begun - today was the Tiger Run at the stadium. I had my own 3-a-day on Saturday with the Soccer Car Wash in the AM, Tiger Run in the PM, and another photo shoot at dusk. I've revised the Picture page and move the Spring/Summer pictures to their own website. Remember that I'm going to be deleting all the Fall 2004 pictures on September 1st, so order those pictures now or forever hold your peace. (Sunday, May 29th) Another School Year is indeed over. Baccalaureate and Graduation was today, and I was able to get pictures at Baccalaureate for this year's graduates. I've just posted those, so they should be available for your viewing pleasure. There are big things in store for Columnchew Productions over the Summer, I think you'll find some pleasant changes by the time Fall hits next year. I know I'll be back bigger than ever, and I can't wait for that to happen. Until then, check me out periodically over the summer - who knows what events I'll be covering and posting. If you're in town this Summer, check out the Huron Playhouse and especially South Pacific - who knows what you might see... (Sunday, May 22nd) Okay, I haven't written anything for awhile, but I'm gonna try and keep it short 'cause it's 10:44 pm and I gotta be up tomorrow. First of all, a big Welcome to all the Cleveland United people visiting the site. I'm sorry I wasn't able to get to the game today, but hopefully I'll be there next week. Next, to everyone from McCormick, I just posted all of your dance pictures, so take a look (they're in the pictures page under School Events.). I haven't figured out the pricing for those pictures, but here's my plan: I submitted an order for 2 of every picture - if/when I get these pictures, I'll take them to school and have them there for your lunch period. I'll let you know when I get prices figured out. Until then, I'll catch you later... (Monday, May 16th) Quick update tonight - I'm experimenting with a new naming scheme. My old naming scheme did nothing but confuse me, considering I shoot more than 20,000 pictures a school year. Alright, I'll be in Perkins tomorrow for the final Soccer game of the spring. Please remember to give me plenty of time for pictures by Graduation - it takes me about a week to get the pictures in my hands once I order them. (Saturday, May 14th...PM) So the Powderpuff Game has come and gone, and the Juniors ended up winning. Check out the pictures under the "High School Events" column in the Pictures page. There are a TON of pictures in there - instead of deleting a bunch of pictures, I just decided to upload them all. Anyways, enjoy... (Saturday, May 14th...AM Update) Absolutely nothing has gone as I've planned this year with Track. Some of the events have been rained out or it's been frigid. Generally its been a royal pain. The SBC event was no different. The Prelims were great to me - just a couple sprinkles and a bunch of great shots. Of course, during the Finals it started to pour like hell. There was really only one time where I missed a shot - during the Boys Mile Final. One of the other photographers from a certain newspaper actually CUT OFF one of the kids from Margaretta - I watched the kid sort of pause mid stride as she cut in front of him to get the shot of Scotty Lasch crossing the finish line. I lined up for the shot, but watched as two other photographers lined up in front of me. Oh well - sorry Scott. I had to leave right after they suspended the High Jump and Pole Vault - the rain was coming down hard enough to threaten my equipment. I'm sorry to all those final events that I missed - I honestly had intended to be there. I'll be back tonight for the Powderpuff game at 6pm, so hopefully I'll see you there! (Thursday, May 12th) Today brought colder weather and a Clyde Soccer team to McCormick Middle School. The 5th and 6th grade team pulled off a great win in their last home game. Some of the 7th and 8th grade kids got took some pictures of themselves, so I put those up tonight too. Next Tuesday will be the last game for both the 5th and 6th, and the 7th and 8th, grade teams. Unfortunately, the older guys are in Perkins and the younger guys are in Edison...which poses quite the problem for me. I THINK I'm going to end up in Perkins next tuesday. For all the soccer teams, however, I've GENUINELY enjoyed all your games - they really remind me why I started this whole shindig in the first place. (Wednesday, May 11th) JV Baseball - I got 50 pics then it rained, sorry... (Tuesday, May 10th) So, I didn't realize there was a track meet today. I only realized this on my way out of town for the soccer game. I was able to take a couple of pictures of the tennis match, and then hit the Soccer match in Sandusky. Um, that's about it for now... (Monday, May 9th) Right, so I'm diggin this new camera! The rapid-fire mode is great for Baseball - it almost makes it tolerable to watch the boring sport! Okay, only kidding, but I DID get some decent pictures for today's game....of course I can't tell you who they played, though. There was an interesting call where they called Calvin out - the ball was hit to the 3rd baseman, he grabbed the ball in his right hand and tagged Calvin with his mitt (it's pictures 651, 652, and 653). If you're looking at the hi-res pictures on my laptop. you can CLEARLY see the ball in his hand...while he tags Calvin with his mitt. Too bad there's no instant replay in High School Baseball. Anyways, I'm still congested and sick, but nothin's gonna stop me from making the Soccer games tomorrow. By the way, thanks for all the orders that are pouring in! Prom really kickstarted people into buying again, and I'm getting back in the swing of things for turnaround times. I'm really sorry to those people who I made wait forever until they got their pictures - I've been out of practice for about a month and a half. Keep the orders comin... (Saturday, May 7th) So, tonight was the Prom and I was there taking pictures. Um....I don't know what else to say - the pictures prettymuch speak for themselves. I'm sick, so I'm going to bed... (Thursday, May 5th) WHAT A WEEK!!! Wow, it's pretty surreal the events of this week. First, the LEVY PASSED! Wow, that's such a feat, achievement, and a relief that it's over! Having said that, it should only make sense that I have MORE time to spend on my pictures...but it hasn't worked out that way. I've neglected my posting duties due to a number of factors - to put it simply, I've been out having fun playing tennis, soccer, and WHATEVER I FEEL LIKE that DOESN'T involve trying to get a levy pass. I've been doing this, BECAUSE the levy passed......and passed with NO help WHATSOEVER from certain individuals who DESPERATLY tried to get people to vote "No." The most despicable act from one of these individuals was reported in the Sandusky Register the day following the levy. It mentioned that a Poll Worker had "Mistakenly" told kids that they needed to be 21 to vote. This Poll Worker, it was never mentioned, was a VEHEMENT "No Voter." This Hull Road Resident enjoyed sending "Letters to the Editor" to the Sandusky Register with her own non-sensical viewpoints on this election. Explain to me, if you will, how a POLLSTER who "MISTAKENLY" TOLD KIDS THEY NEEDED TO BE 21 TO VOTE COULD MAKE ANY VALID POINT IN A LETTER TO THE EDITOR ON AN ISSUE UP FOR VOTE!?!?! Does this NOT blow your mind? Sorry, I needed to say that. Anyways, as a gift to myself, I decided to take my Tax Refund (most of which came from deductions from this business) and invest it in my business...with the purchase of a new camera - a Canon 1d Mark II. I drove to Avon today after school to pick it up, and had a chance to use it in the 7th and 8th grade Soccer game. I'm still learning how to do all the things I did on my Rebel with this camera - so sorry if the pictures turned out funky. Also, this camera's got a frickin HAIR TRIGGER! It fires pictures 3x faster than my other camera, so if you hold down your finger on the shutter for longer than 1/10 of a second, it'll take off and shoot 8.5 pictures per second until you let go. This is good when you INTEND to do it, but it sucks when you're only trying to get a single picture. Consequently, sorry if I have like 5 pictures of nothing - my bad. This camera DOES focus about 5 times faster than my other camera, which means more of the better in-focus pictures. Also, this camera cost me dearly - so buy some pictures, huh?! (Thursday, April 28th) It's Thursday, so it's time for another soccer game. Today, the teams took on Sandusky again and both came up winners. There's not much else to say other than I really dig those Soccer Games - check out the pics for yourself. (Wednesday, April 27th) So, it decided to rain....for a week. It stopped in time for the last Home McCormick Track meet this year. I had decided to get the Track Runners the first meet, the Field Participants the second meet, and then everyone I missed in the subsequent meets. Turns out I get one meet for runners and one meet for fielders, thanks to mother nature. Today I TRIED to get most of the fielders. Track really sucks when there's honestly 4 events running at once. I was split between high jump, long jump, and pole vault - and then split between Shot-put and discus. What you see in the pictures section is the middle ground from all that. Oh yeah, Brooke Durbin also chewed me out because I didn't get any pictures of the Girls Track team from the High School meet. She IS partially correct. I planned on doing the same thing for the HHS track team that I did for the MMS track team - one meet for track, one meet for field, and then every other meet for those people I missed. Turns out the weather had another idea for the last two home meets. Unfortunately (for Brooke), the next home meet isn't until Saturday, May 14th. I won't be getting any more pictures of Track until then. OH, one other thing - I like my Discus pictures from Clyde. I think they're hilarious... (Thursday, April 21st) After yesteday's Rain-out, I had a shorter day today. I went to the Edison Soccer field to watch the 5th and 6th grade Soccer team beat Edison's Soccer team. It was a great game, and Edison nearly made a comeback! They didn't have a 7th and 8th grade team, so it was a quick match and then I headed home for dinner.....which is where my car battery died <sign>. Oh well. I seem to be having far too many car problems lately... (Tuesday, April 19th) So, today was a Track Meet vs. I THINK clyde....maybe. I focused on the field events today - High Jump, Long Jump, Pole Vault, Discus, and Shotput. I'm sorry if I let a bunch of people down - I'm REALLY trying to get pictures of EVERY event, but Track REALLY sucks for one person trying to take pictures. Oh yeah, and it's boring. Okay, I'm lying, but some events tend to drag on. I'm used to non-stop action (I DID start this business w/ Soccer and Football), so it's kind a change for me to have time between shots. I got as much as I could from about 4:30 - 6:00, and then headed over to the 7th and 8th grade Soccer game in Perkins. I really sorta dig the setup that Perkins had today - it was really conducive to taking pictures. Here's a cool little photo quirk - there's this time of day known as "Magic Hour." It's the hour JUST before sundown where the sunlight goes from a hue of Orange, to Blues, Purples, and Pinks, and everything in between. It's GREAT light for taking pictures as it tends to be "Pleasing to the Eye," as the textbooks would say. You can see that light in the 7th and 8th grade Soccer pictures. It also helps that Perkins' field allows an unobstructed view of the sunset, so these cool colors can fade through onto the field. Huron's field blocks the sun with trees, so I can't ever get this effect at home games. I'm at least happy I was able to get it for this game. Oh well, check out the pictures and let me know! (Monday, April 18th) Today I posted pictures from the Friday Tennis match and the match today with Sandusky. Not much else to add here... (Thursday, April 14th) Well, this straight-week full of pictures is almost over. Soccer is always my favorite photo shoot - I've said that before. Today was a great game for both of the teams, and I was able to get around 300 pictures total. I'm uploading them right now, and you'll have to keep hitting the "Reload" button at the top of your web browser to see any updates on my "Pictures" page. Okay, I'm out of things to say, so see ya at tennis tomorrow! (Wednesday, April 13th) I realized, today, that Baseball has got to be one of the hardest sports of which I take pictures. There's a giant fence around the diamond, it's pretty dangerous to stand inside the fence with a $2500+ camera, and my lens doesn't zoom in ANYWHERE near the amount needed to get good outfielder shots (or some infield shots, for that matter). It's also pretty boring between the action (sorry). Other than that, I love it. I left the field early today to eat and get ready for the levy meeting, so sorry I got crap for pictures... (Tuesday, April 12th) It's been awhile, but Soccer's finally back. I really miss shooting Soccer games because there's always so much action at any given time. Today we had a couple of matches between the 5th and 6th grade team and the 7th and 8th grade team and the Sandusky Blue Streak Soccer teams. Both Huron teams won with wide margins, and I'm pretty sure everyone got a chance to play. I shoot these McCormick games differently from regular varsity games - I tend to take more pictures so I can try and get a shot of everyone. That was prettymuch the way I shot tonight - I think I got 398 total pictures - which should be about 3 separate pages of pictures. I'm uploading while I type, so be on the lookout for them! (Monday, April 11th) Wow, it was pretty cold for being like 65 degrees out. There was a Track meet for the McCormick kids today at around 4:30. I was able to get some pictures, but they run in the opposite direction that the sun's shining - which is good for them, but bad for pictures. At any rate, I'm still getting used to taking Track pictures, so bear with me. Check out the Track pix. By the way, I've archived all the Winter and Fall pictures - they're still online, but not for long. I'd say the Fall ones will be on until about the end of school (or until I decide to take them off due to space restraints). If you've got orders, send them in! (Thursday, April 7th) Today was a crappy day for pictures - period. I went to my first Track meet EVER today, and it was pretty unique. I was out of place for Pole Vault and Shot/Discus pictures - and combine that with the fact that I had to leave at 6:00; basically I missed alot. It was a good first experience, and I KNOW there will be others. Next time I'll focus on the Pole Vaulters, the Shot/Discus, and the High/Long Jumpers. Other than that, I'd say it was a decent day. I've also updated the Huron WINS! Website at http://www.huronlevy.com - so go take a look! Oh yeah, Vote Yes May 3rd! (Tuesday, April 5th) I went to the Tennis match today because the JV Team would be playing after the Varsity team, and I hadn't gotten any pictures of them. As it turns out, I had to leave and didn't have as much time as I wanted. At any rate, the pictures are up there - check them out. Tomorrow is "open" for me, so I don't have PICTURES per se, but I DO have a number of other things goin on. See ya! (Monday, April 4th) I'm Back for Spring. I've officially started in with the Spring sports, so there goes any free time I had.... oh well. If you were wondering where the baseball pictures from spring break were, I've just posted them tonight. My laptop had a problem with the battery charger, and it took about 2 weeks for me to get it repaired and back in my hands. Consequently, I couldn't do any picture orders or post any updates to the website - my bad. Today I shot Varsity tennis, so those pictures are up too. I'm still getting used to shooting the new sports, so bear with me until I find my legs. As always, check the calendar link off my home page to see where I'll be on any given day. Thanks! (Friday, February 11th) What a packed night. First, I took a couple of Team Pictures before the JV Game - these pictures are on the Boys Basketball - Perkins picture page that can also be found........here. Next, it was Senior night and Coach Cap had used a couple of my pictures to make Autograph Pages that the Senior guys were signing. The guys signed autographs during the first half of the JV game, and it was a pretty good turnout. I didn't really get too many JV pictures as my usual standing spaces were taken up, and the gym was starting to fill. After the JV game, the team celebrated Senior Night and all the Senior Cheerleaders and Players were escorted by their parents to the center of the court. By this time, the stands had really filled up due to Senior Night, Mini-Cheerleader night, and the fact that this game decided who won SBC this year. As I mentioned before, there was no place for me to stand, so I had to roam the sidelines. It was actually a nice change since all my pictures have started to look exactly the same. My only regret is that my flash didn't fire when Bobby hit his dunk, so the picture looks a bit blurry - oh well. Other than that, a great way to "Cap" off a basketball season of home games. As I mention on my homepage, I'm going to be away next week for a conference on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, so I won't be available for the last BBall game of the Home season. I'll have the Basketball (as well as the whole Winter season sports) pictures up on my site for awhile (I still have the Fall Sports pictures up there), so you can still use this time to order pictures. I prefer ordering by using the Online form on my site, or sending me an email at glarizza@mac.com or columnchew@mac.com I'm sorry if I don't respond back sometimes - I tend to just order the pictures and forget to touch base with the people who order them. For those people who ordered pictures and haven't received them yet, I'm most likely going to be making house calls now that the BBall season is over. I'll be looking for you guys on Sundays or Thursdays, most likely. Thanks for readin'! (Sunday, February 6th) So, there's this Dodgeball league, right? It's at the old Norwalk Rec and consists of a bunch of teams that come together every Sunday for a "friendly game of Dodgeball," only it's not friendly and just BARELY dodgeball. There's a team that consists of a bunch of Huron High School Juniors - they call themselves United Ballers. I decided to take a little ride over to Norwalk and check them out. Wow. So they're playing this team that has a whole cheering SECTION that's just LAYING DOWN the trashtalk..I'm talking girlfriends, friends, brothers, sisters, and even PARENTS talkin some serious smack. They're screaming at the ref, directing comments at certain players, and basically running the whole gamut of Smack. It was pretty surreal. In the end the 'Ballers pulled out a 5-2 win cause the other team sucked. Hopefully you caught the sarcasm there. Anyways, check out the pictures, they're pretty funny. I especially like Beau's "Little League" pose... (Thursday, February 3rd) This was my last Girls BBall game of the year. They also had some Girls Biddy Basketball players playing during the halftimes, so I got pictures of those too. Um, that's about it... (Tuesday, February 1st) Wow, I had a threefer today. I went to the 7th grade Basketball game, the Swim Meet, and the Varsity Basketball game....yikes. This basically meant that I didn't get home until 10pm, which has gotta be some record for me. I'm busilly marking all the pictures as I type, but let me say a couple of things. First, you have to be insane to try and take pictures at a swim meet. No, really - I'm being serious. You have about a 3 foot walkway around the pool, and it's filled with coaches, judges, and the swimmers themselves. To say it was difficult is an understatement. Nevertheless, I was able to get some shots. Hopefully they're in focus, as I don't have time to review them tonight. It figures that the BBall game went into overtime...twice. Yowza. I was able to get people their pictures, which is very cool. If I didn't get pictures to you, then you left too early. I don't know if I'm going to get to post everything tonight - it's far too late for me. I DID, however, upload the freshman Clyde game pictures. Oh yeah - THE FRESHMAN BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM WON AGAIN?!?!?! What's up with THAT?! I think it's fair to say they're on a winning "STREAK." I just wish you could have done something with Football! Okay, check the pictures out... (Tuesday, January 25th) Busy is an understatement. I hit the 7th grade girls basketball game vs. Edison, and then rushed over to catch the High School Wrestling Tri-Meet from 6 - 9. I stayed up late to get these uploaded, so be patient with me. As I mentioned on my Index Page - I HAVE YOUR PICTURES! With weeks like these, I'm REALLY behind for January. I haven't had time to deliver, so I'm counting on seeing YOU at the games. PLEASE come up to me and ask me about your pictures - I'm going to try and have them with me. If you've emailed orders - I have them. If you've sent checks - I have them. If you placed an order within the last week and are looking for your pictures - I DON'T have them......yet. I'm relying on the weekends to place my orders, and this week's hasn't happened yet. Hopefully I'll complete it tomorrow and get it sent in. I sincerely apologize for the delay, but time isn't on my side this month. Thanks for helpin me out and coping with my delays -Gary (Monday, January 24th) This is the beginning of a very busy week. Today I did another Freshman game where the boys and girls played some random Catholic school from some town by Fremont (I think - doesn't even matter). I shot the Girls game as I always have, but I did something slightly different for the Boys game... Apple updated their iPhoto program (which I use for importing, sorting, and modifying pictures, AS WELL AS creating the Picture Pages for my website - yeah it's THAT powerful and easy) with the release of their new iLife '05 suite. One of the updates was the support (FINALLY) for the RAW format. Why do you care, and what does this mean? Well, I used to shoot in the JPG format which is compressed, loses some detail everytime it's saved, and has White Balance and Exposure changes already made to it. Basically, if I try to correct color or sharpness in a JPG, it's like I'm making a copy of a copy - which is not good. The RAW format is literally like a Digital Negative. If you shot at the wrong Exposure or used the incorrect White Balance, you can actually make the change on your computer and it will adjust the photo as if the camera HAD been set to the changes you made. Long story short (too late), the pictures are clearer, sharper, and MUCH easier for me to correct in Photoshop. Unfortunately, the pictures are MUCH bigger (like 3x bigger) and don't take kindly to my "Copyrighted Picture" watermark. I had to completely rework the script I use to watermark my pictures for the RAW format - which is why it took me so long tonight. Take a look at the difference between the Boys pictures and the Girls pictures from tonight - see if you can notice a difference. Notice the "shinyness" of the floors, the sharper details in the faces (when I'm actually IN FOCUS), and, unfortunatly, the weird blur effect in the flailing arms of the Boys game. These are all byproducts in shooting in RAW. Also, for everyone who buys pictures, know that I actually try to correct the errors in my pictures before I send them off to the printer. I try to sharpen the pictures a bit, correct the colors, brighten and darken, and crop the picture around your Kid. Let me know if there's something you might want done and I'll see what I can do. Remember, though, that REALLY blurry pictures CANNOT be corrected (contrary to what you see on CSI), and some things are darn near impossible; but most little blemishes are easilly correctable. If you read all this, you deserve a cookie. If you skipped to the end and read this line, you're just sad... (Thursday, January 20th) The Streak is Over. The Freshman Girls AND Boys pulled out a win tonight in what proved to be an excellent night for Huron Basketball. I didn't go to the Boys game at Port Clinton, but I heard the Varsity team ALSO won big. Great job for all the teams tonight! Oh yeah, and to the anonymous emailer - I'm flattered that you put your life on hold to dwell on mine and slip me some info, but frankly I don't give a damn....Have a Nice Day :) (Wednesday, January 12th) Short update today. I shot the McCormick Wrestling match against Perkins today. A big hello to all those guys who were there - enjoy the pictures in the Wrestling Section of the Pictures pages (does anyone remember the show Picture Pages with Bill Cosby when they were little? Am I the only one who thinks of that when I say 'the pictures page'?). (Tuesday, January 11th) A big welcome to all you new parents/students viewing the site for the first time. Today I took pictures for the 7th and 8th grade Boys Basketball Teams - which was my first time for them. I really enjoyed both games and I hope you like ALL 459 PICTURES - Yikes. Remember that there's 4 pages in that album, so don't miss any! Okay, I'm using my unique position to tell you about a cool new product that I think you're gonna love. It's called the Mac Mini, and it was released just today. It's a computer that's 6 INCHES wide, by 6 INCHES long, by 2 INCHES DEEP! The entire computer is that big! It's the latest computer created by Apple, and it's a great value at $499. Why am I telling you this? I do this website on an Apple, my pictures are transferred onto an Apple, I do every movie I create on an Apple, and I think Apples' are the next generation in Computers. Why? Well, there's no spyware, there are ZERO VIRUSES, the Video/Photo programs are AMAZING and come COMPLETELY FREE with the computer, plus the computer is COMPLETELY ROCK STABLE (The last time my Mac at home Froze and required a restart was last March). If you're looking for a low priced computer where you don't have to worry about Viruses or Spyware, PLEASE consider the Mac. Click here for a link to the new computer... Okay, enough pandering and plugging. Enjoy the pictures and email me for any orders! (Friday, January 7th) For me, the Varsity BBall games have turned into "What's Bob gonna do next." I got some pretty decent pictures tonight, and an especially good one of Bob. Check out the calendar on my main Index Page to see where I'll be next week... (Tuesday, January 4th) Happy New Years....and stuff. I shot the McCormick Girls' basketball games this afternoon, and promptly ran out of battery power. I'm starting to get upset about how Out of Focus my pictures are becoming. I don't know if it's all the running around in Basketball, and I'm physically not doing something correctly, or if my camera's not working properly.....odds are it's me. Chances are it's the lack of an AI Servo mode on the Digital Camera I'm using. That's a feature that constantly keeps focusing on the image in the center of the viewfinder, versus constantly pressing the shutter halfway to focus on an image. I've done marginally well without this feature, but I'm seriously considering purchasing a camera that has AI Servo on it (Note to all you people out there wanting to take good motion pictures...). Having said that, there are about 292 pictures from today's shoot, about about 120 or so really crappy ones. I hope the good ones outnumber the bad ones from your point of view, but really take a look at the pictures before you order. I can do a fair amount of "sharpening" in Photoshop before I send the picture in to be printed, but I'm far from having a Magic Wand. Enough Excuses - enjoy!
(Thursday, December 30th) I keep trying out new things with this camera. It seems that every month or so I find a new feature that really helps me out. Anyways, there was a JV/Varsity Boys Basketball game tonight, so that's where I was. I know a couple of people from SMCC, so I tried to get pictures of their boys as well, THAT'S why you'll notice a couple of random shots out there. I'm really trying to fix my focusing problem with basketball, but I think I'm at the VERY LIMIT of what I can do with a Digital Rebel. I'll be buying a 10d or a 1d Mark II in the near future. For those who don't care (which is most of you), enjoy the pictures and disregard my extemporaneous banter... (Saturday, December 18th) There are pictures in the Boys Basketball section for the JV and Varsity Boys Basketball games that were today. The Girls and the Freshmen ALSO played today, but I didn't get to those games. (Friday, December 17th) Tonight was the JV and Varsity Boys Basketball games vs. Clyde. The most notable picture had to be the dunk by Bob Isphording in the Varsity game. I think it's something like Picture Number 1252. The Woodard Chick that was there was able to get a great angle. My picture is pretty decent, but isn't as sharp as I would have like it to be. Anyways, take a look at the pictures and I'll see ya tomorrow... (Tuesday, December 7th) It was Parents' Night for Wrestling tonight - and tonight also marks the first time that I've been to a High School Wrestling Match...ever. (Thursday, December 2nd) Freshman Boys were home today - and in the case where multiple teams are playing on the same day, I think I'm going to stick with the Home Team. I got a reasonable amount of pictures (about 259 or so), but make sure you see BOTH pages. Not much else to add today, so we'll see what the weekend brings... (Tuesday, November 30th) I'm BACK! Okay, so I really didn't quit, but the Winter Sports are in full swing. I started tonight with the Girls Basketball teams. I shot the JV game and half of the Varsity game (only because I needed to come home and finish things for school tomorrow). I found out later that the PC coach was getting pretty testy with the fact that I was taking flash pictures - trust me, I DIDN'T leave because of that (in fact, I was gonna take some MORE). Also, with the start of the Winter Sports, I archived the Fall Pictures to their own page. There is a link to this new page from the Pictures page, as well as right here. Click here to access the archived fall pictures. I'm still taking orders for any pictures (current or past), so email me and let me know what you need. I've lowered my prices on Enlargements, so take advantage of that too. Let me know what you want! (Saturday, November 21st) There's only one team that doesn't end their season with a loss. A 12-1 season is a remarkable thing, something that we haven't seen in Huron for awhile. I'm very happy and proud to have been a part of the Tigers season, if only in my small capacity. Having said that, I only have a couple pictures of the this week's game. I wasn't able to hit the sidelines, so I hung up the camera to actually WATCH the game this week. Check out the pictures, and, with my new PRICE DROP, order some of the pictures you might have been waiting to get. For those people new to the site, look around and drop me a line with your order! (Saturday, November 13th) Okay, expanding on what I wrote last night, I lost a bunch of pictures. It was cold, I think a memory card failed, and it wasn't a happy thing. I DID, however, manage to rip some of the pictures off of the card this morning. I've created a separate section for the "recovered" pictures, and they are named differently. Check those out in the football section. ALSO, make sure you check out BOTH PAGES of pictures from the OTSEGO game. A lot of people are missing the link to PAGE 2 that's on the top of the Otsego page. Other than that, I think everything else is moving quite nicely. We'll find out where we play on Sunday and start making plans for the next game. Everything's feeling a lot like 1998 again... (Friday, November 12th) (11:30 PM) Wow, what a game tonight! So, I started off the night on the sidelines getting some good pictures. After the kickoff, I got kicked off the sidelines because I didn't have a field pass. This is the reason why I don't really have a bunch of pictures from the First quarter. I was able to secure a Field Pass and hit the sidelines again before halftime. UNFORTUNATELY, I had a problem with a memory card and lost a bunch of pictures...including all of the pictures from halftime. Sorry. HOWEVER, I still managed to save the majority of my pictures. Those pictures are being encoded and will be posted here within the next hour or so. Enjoy! (4:30 PM) Big game tonight! I took some pictures at the Pre-Game Feed at Jims. I'm uploading them and heading to the match. They'll be in the Football Section. Good Luck Guys! (Sunday, November 7th) Okay, so this doesn't constitute as a "Huron" thing, but I actually photographed Paintball on Sunday at Great Lakes Paintball in Bellevue. I know a couple of kids who go out there, and decided to go out and play a couple of games. I got to play paintball for a couple of hours, and took some pictures for the last hour. I'm sorry there weren't more pictures, but the last couple of games were in the woods, and it's hard to get good pictures in there (never mind trying not to get hit with a $3000 camera in your hands). The trip gave me a good idea, though - I'm going to rent the place for a day in December and hold a birthday party there. I'm sure I'll make a little invitation page when I pick the date, so check back for that. It'll probably be somewhere around December 23rd or so - that way everyone's home from College. Oh well, take a look at the pictures and try to spot the Huron kids... (Friday, November 5th) Another great game for the Tiger Football program. I wasn't able to get many pictures, and granted there ARE some pretty crappy pictures there, but I'm happy I did get the ones I did. I tried to get a picture of all the Seniors' names in lights, but they APPEAR to be dark pictures. I can clear those up in Photoshop before I send them off for prints, so don't worry about that. Other than that, I'm getting ready for the Volleyball game tomorrow. There's a chance I might not be able to attend tomorrow, but here's hoping I can make it! (Friday, October 30th) 10 and 0. The last time I heard that number was in 1998; which just so happened to be the year my senior class went undefeated. What a season the Football team has had this year. The Pirates fought hard this evening, but the Huron Tigers prevailed in the end. I got a couple of pictures at halftime and after the game, so the pickens is mighty slim. Hopefully the images do more to set the mood for you than my commentary can. Now the next big question: Avon or Upper Sandusky? The Volleyball team faces their BIGGEST challenge this year with #1 (in Ohio) ranked Mohawk tomorrow at Willard High School. My Niece's birthday party is tomorrow too, so I won't be there at the opening of this game, but maybe I can come for the end of it. Regardless, the Lady Tigers will demonstrate their class on the VBall courts of Willard High. Have a great game, ladies, and good luck! (Thursday, October 29th) Tonight we had one of the Football Program's Traditions: The Tree Dedication Ceremony. I took a couple of pictures, but had sort of a bad angle. I decided to leave these pictures WITHOUT the watermarks - feel free to use them as you may. Afterwards, I got to teach the Senior Football Moms how to do a BAND tradition - The Funk. I laughed when a couple of the kids asked me "Where I learned to do The Funk." Let me tell you that I was there the first year we DID the Funk. We learned The Funk from the Jackson Band down at the Jackson Apple Festival - one of Ohio's Longest Night Parades. We used to do this parade EVERY year when Ed Berry directed the band. His Father directed the Jackson Band, and together we formed one of the longest bands that the Festival has ever seen. The Funk actually has its roots in OU's Marching Band - ask Mr. Skaggs about it one day. By the way band members, do you know why we still play Long Train Runnin'? That song came from the Jackson Band and the Jackson Parade. We learned to play that song so that we could play it WITH them in the Jackson Parade. They taught US those movements you do when you play the song. Over the years, though, people have forgotten where these things came from. I could tell you tons of stories, but my point is more about Tradition. It's important to remember and respect Tradition; neglecting to do so not only diminishes a bond but also lets down those who have come before you. Okay, enough opinion for tonight, enjoy the pictures! (Monday, October 25th) The JV played a rare Monday night game today at Memorial Stadium. There were some great hits and unexpected turns. I had to leave at the beginning of the 4th quarter to get over to the Levy meeting, but when I left, the team had 2 Special Teams touchdowns. Check out the pictures in the JV SMCC section of Football Pictures... (Sunday, October 24th) You normally expect to have 1 rainy game during Football season. You also hope that there's ONLY 1 rainy game. Finally, you hope that if there IS going to be a rainy game you know this in advance so you have time to prepare. 1 out of 3 ain't bad. Knowing that Saturday's game was going to be another Mud Bowl, I had time to get my camera wrapped up. It's amazing what Ziplocs and Electrical tape can do. Wow, what a game, huh? The Defenses on both sides limited play to within the 30 yardlines, and one look at the field could have told you that. Strobel Field looked like a cow pasture last night - let's hope Sandusky has an "S-Team" to take care of that mess. Amidst rain, wind, and the SMCC defense, the Tigers were able to upset the previously-undefeated Panthers in a 7-0 overtime win. The crowd was definitely there as both bleachers were packed with screaming fans. Calvin Black's grandma even had her Bullhorn out. The pictures will tell the parts of the story I've left out, but trust me in the fact that it was one of the better games I've seen the Tigers play. With that, I'll leave you to browsing the SMCC section of the Football Pictures. Also, to the guys with no shirts in the 4th quarter - I'll see you guys on the Absence list Monday... (Saturday, October 23rd) Check out the new pictures from the Saint Mary's football game. More news on this game coming tomorrow... (Tuesday, October 19th) Wow. The Huron/Edison Soccer game was a heartbreaker. Though the team lost 2-1, I'm still incredibly happy with the way the season went. I would have never done this whole site if it wasn't for the Soccer team. Those guys are Ace in my book, and I'm extremely proud of what they accomplished this year. They reached the top of the SBC, they beat Mansfield Christian for the first time in the history of the Huron Soccer program, they put another Huron Goalkeeper in the record books, and the list goes on. Great job, guys (and girls), you're all winners in my book. (Monday, October 18th) Hey everybody. Nothing happening today, but still some news. I've been approached by some other Printing Services who have offered me their business. I put some test orders through, and I'm waiting on the prints to see the results. If everything looks fine, you can expect some price cuts (ESPECIALLY with my flexibility in 5x7 prints and LARGER sizes). I don't think it'll be anything DRASTIC, but it'll definitely be available. I'll also be available to offer some better package deals, which is pretty cool. I honestly started this "business" to give everyone the opportunity to have good-quality pictures taken of their children. Hopefully, with this recent deal, I'll be able to provide that service at a more competitive price! Once again, thanks again for making this site a success. I'm coming up on my "1 month anniversary," and am preparing some numbers to show how the site's been doing. As always, let me know if you have any questions - and Happy Browsing! (Sunday, October 17th) Okay, so I didn't quite get the pictures up until today. It's just about 11 AM and I'm uploading all the pictures from the Soccer Team's WIN against Perkins. This win guarantees the Tigers a solo SBC title this year. I took about 424 shots, so there should be about 3 pages worth of pictures. Thanks to all the other teams who came out to support the Soccer team last night, your enthusiasm really helped to bring up the energy level at Tiger Woods. I'm sure everyone had a good time. (Update, 11:16PM) So, by popular demand (Okay, one person), I put up the Beat Bob pictures that I kept forgetting to update. Also, I'm investigating a new Printing service. Why do you care? Well, this could mean lower prices and better deals for you guys. I'm all about lower prices as long as it means equal or better quality than I'm doing right now. As soon as I find something out, I'll let you know. This upcoming week brings Soccer Playoffs, more Volleyball, and the Game of the Week - Huron vs. St Mary's. Tune in to check out all my updates. (Saturday, October 16th) (1:20 pm) Round 1 is over. I was mistaken - there was no Freshman Football game today. Evidently the Freshman are done for the year. I was able to catch the JV game, however, in the 27 degree weather. Okay, so maybe it wasn't 27 degrees, but it had to be close to that with the wind chill. I definitely need a pair of gloves. Anyways, the JV squad pulled a win out of their collective helmets, with something like 45 seconds to go, thanks to a catch by Mike Klein. I'm uploading those pictures right now, so they should be available soon. If you're reading this, come to the Soccer games tonight. The JV is at 5, and the Varsity is at 7. Come support these guys and their SBC Champ Battle! (Friday, October 15th) It had to rain. I had expected it to happen SOME day, but I was hoping it wouldn't happen during a Varsity Football game. I only get to shoot the Away games, and the Tigers traveled to Clyde tonight to take on the Flyers. During practice before the game, the rain was a minor nuisance yet still manageable. Once the First Quarter began, the rain intensified. I was able to get about 42 pictures, but the rain was far too much tonight. I've never really been out in the weather with my Camera Rig, and I was a bit worried I wouldn't be able to cover my 3 games tomorrow (including the Huron/Perkins soccer match to determine the SBC Soccer Title), so I decided to pack it in after the first quarter. I'm happy to report that all my equipment seems to be responsive and operable, so we'll see what tomorrow brings. I'd also like to apologize to Gardner and Isphording - we'll have to pretend that we got that big 8-0 picture... (Thursday, October 14th) Soccer was off today, so I decided to take in the Volleyball games tonight. I'm still having some problems shooting Volleyball. I seem to get a majority of blurry pictures. You'll just have to bear with me as I'm still messing around with some settings on the camera. There are 3 pages worth of pictures from the Freshman, JV, and Varsity SMCC game tonight, so have fun wading through them. Tomorrow is a Football game, and there's Football and Soccer on Saturday. If you're going to any of those events, you'll probably see me there... (Tuesday, October 12th) There are tons of pictures to be uploaded tonight - but I have a feeling that I'm not going to get to all of them. We had this "Beat Bob" motivational speaker come to the school today. He put on a one-man-show as he single-handedly took on the Faculty to a volleyball game. I was "lucky enough" to participate in this event, so I had Junior Ace Reporter (in training) Charlie Thompson take the helm behind the lens. He got some great shots, so I can't really complain at all (he's still in training). Since these pictures were taken during a school event while I was working, I cannot legally sell them. Because of this, those pictures won't have the annoying watermark on them - feel free to download to your hearts content. Speaking of Charlie Thompson, he and the Soccer team took on Seneca East this evening, which resulted in a 4-0 victory. I'm uploading those pictures as I type, so they should be available relatively soon. Also, the Volleyball Teams took on Clyde this afternoon, with the Freshman and the Varsity team ending up victorious. I ALSO got pictures of these three events (and they are ALSO currently uploading while I type). Hopefully, everything should be ready by midnight, but, I'm not going to be awake to see this happen. I'm going to hit the button on my laptop and go to bed, so see y'all tomorrow! (Saturday, October 9th) Calvin and Hobbes said it best, "The Days are Just Packed." This morning I was able to go to the Freshman Football game and the JV/Varsity Soccer Games. The Freshman were able to make strides at the end of the game, but were unable to overcome the Edison Team. The JV Soccer team made a GREAT effort to come back in the second period of their game, but fell short in their 4-3 defeat. Saving the best for last, the Varsity team was able to Defeat Mansfield Christian for the FIRST TIME in the program's history (from what I'm told)! This was a GREAT back-and-forth game that ended with a score of 1-0. Junior, Charlie Thompson was able to score the Tigers' only goal. As always, check out the pictures and let me know if there's something you like. Also, check the News Posting from last night for Nolan's Page. Thanks Everyone! (Friday, October 8th) Hey everyone, I took some pictures at Woodlands today for the Harvest Happenings event. These pictures are under the "School Events" section of the Pictures page. I want to make it known that all of those pictures are free to access. I took those pictures as part of my Tech Job @ Huron - NOT as part of this business. I'm just using this site as an easy way to distribute the pictures to parents and staff. Also, I said I'd elaborate on the Memorable Moments that occured at the soccer game yesterday. Please CLICK ON THIS LINK to take a look at the "For Nolan" page we made for Nolan Greenawalt. It's a great story that really hits home. I finished up the day taking some shots at the Football Game for the Tiny Tigerettes and the band. I'm sorry that I didn't get many pictures of the Football Team, but I had to run the top part of the Scoreboard for the night and was only able to grab a couple pictures. I'll catch everyone @ the Freshman and JV Football games as well as the Soccer Games tomorrow. Drop me a line sometime! (Thursday, October 7th) It's Thursday, which means there's a Huron soccer game somewhere on the north coast. Tonight, Edison was at Tiger Woods for a JV and Varsity game. I was testing out a new flash, so we'll see how the darker pictures look. The teams did a GREAT job with victories on both counts. It's 10:30 PM, however, so I can't really elaborate on a couple of the more memorable moments, but I WILL put something on the site later in the week explaining some of the more heartfelt moments. For now I'm starting the Picture Upload and going to bed. If you get error messages, just trying hitting the Reload Button on your Web Browser in a couple of minutes. If you're coming to the Football game tomorrow night, look for me in the Press Box or on the Field at the Half. (Wednesday, October 6th) I went and did a small shoot at the Sandusky Skate Park today. There's a kid named Josh Russo who's pretty obscene when it comes to inline-skate trickery. He was looking to put together a portfolio for some future sponsors, so I was more than willing to help him out. He's a great kid and I hope he goes far. You may know his mom, Patti Russo, from her position at the High School. Check out his pics in the "Miscellaneous" section of the Pictures Page. (Tuesday, October 5th) Another soccer great match with tons of back-and-forth action tonight. This win should move the Tigers to the top of the SBC. I look forward to watching MANY playoff matches by this Tiger Soccer team. All these guys are amazing class acts - I know no other team that deserves it more. I was able to get about 410 pictures tonight, so make sure you are able to see ALL of them (There's three whole pages to wade through from the Port Clinton match). As always, good luck to the teams! (Saturday, October 2nd) I had a double (almost triple) header today - Freshman Football @ 9am and Soccer @ 11am. The morning started off alright, but morning clouds turned to rain at around 10:15. I was able to see exactly how water-resistant my equipment is.......so far everything still works. There are some great shots of the Freshman in there, but I wasn't able to get nearly as many Soccer pictures as I usually get. It was either the Ref on the south side of the field who jumped in front of every good shot I had, or the back-and-forth matchup between us and Norwalk. We weren't able to beat Norwalk, but I think it's still a testament to our program that we were able to give them a good fight. Maybe I can get a day off tomorrow...maybe not. (Friday, October 1st) It was off to Port Clinton for the varsity football game tonight. Great game with another Tiger victory. Enjoy the pictures from tonight and be on the lookout for some picture specials this weekend! Thanks! (Thursday, September 30th) Another chilly day as the Soccer team took on Margaretta. It was a good game, and go |
